How To Deal With Other People's Reactions to Covid-19 | Judgement; Resentment; Trust; Faith & Misaligned Values
You know what's shit? When other people show parts of themselves which you don't align with, and never has so much of this been revealed as during this pandemic.
Check out the question that this awesome legend asked me.
"Hey Emily, I'm one of your more silent followers but I appreciate all the content you put out and the podcasts - it's easier for me to listen to time wise. Apologies if you have already covered this and I haven't seen it on the lives. I would love to hear thoughts on reactions to people not complying with the stay home message. I find it so difficult to see people close to me consciously choosing to not follow the stay at home ethos or choosing what rules will suit them and when. I consider it a social responsibility to follow the advice and it's also so difficult because I work in public health and am acutely aware of the negative impacts of not distancing. I have done the nice approach to try and educate them and now I'm at the "I'm losing my shit anger phase" and the "self righteous part" because I am actually scared and I'm a very much follow the bloody rules person.
I have had to mute some social media groups and just put it to the back of my head so I don't do irreparable damage to friendships but it does make me sad.
I understand that the restrictions in place are difficult and for some the distancing is actually bringing up some very acute issues, the distractions for them are no longer there, they can't shop, etc to distract from bigger issues. I am being judgemental - I know this but it's actually made me feel so alone knowing my personal values and sentiments are not shared by those I thought were close friends. I feel like I'm going to come out of this completely isolated and as much as pandemic is frightening, the thoughts of rebuilding my life and damaged relationships is making me more anxious. This has all been a bit of a wake up call for me and that my values are not aligned with others.
Jesus that was an essay but think it's probably an interesting topic.
Thanks again for all the content you put out."
Well if you ask, I will answer!
